Writing prompt: Create a narrative that is perfectly circular: readers can enter the story at any point and make sense of the action, and the story has no set beginning or end. You have 16 moves.
To make Mobius I repurposed a vintage German "Plastikop" souvenir slide viewer, taking the small device apart and substituting my own imagery and text for scenes of German towns and medieval architecture.
With this piece I retuned to the well-worn storyline I refined for Dream Sequence. The choice of a recurring dream as the content for a circular story seemed natural – a tiny window into a small part of my subconscious that is apparently forever on a continuous loop. The souvenir slide viewer suggests that the imaginary beach where my recurring dream takes place is somewhere I have physically visited, a real place from which I could bring home a nostalgic token.
